SPF-GAMS-DEINFIBULATION
The GAMS federation (Group for the Abolition of Female Genital Mutilation) and the Belgium Federal Public Health (SPF) have joined forces to inform infibulated women about deinfibulation.
This informative video explains deinfibulation and helps health professionals to explain everything there is to know about this operation:
- What is deinfibulation?
- When it is possible to be deinfibulated?
- The changes in the body that occur after the operation (urination, menstruation, ...)
- The care to be taken after the operation.
- Answers to important questions that infibulated women ask themselves such as "Why don't we reinfibulate after childbirth?"
It allows patients to make an informed choice and give consent for the surgery.
The video is edited and translated into 8 languages (French, English, Dutch, Arabic, Afar, Somali, Fula, Amharic, Tigrinya) and is aimed at European and Canadian communities that practice FGM and infibulation.
This video shows scenes of nudity which are not suitable for all audiences. Ask us for the password to watch it.
